Are you ready to sit down with neighbors you may not know, share a meal, and have the kind of honest conversation we rarely make time for anymore? Welcome to Awkward Dinners, presented by South Florida People of Color (SFPoC). Our curated and facilitated dinners create space for thoughtful, humanities-rooted dialogue over good food and good drinks.

At Awkward Dinners, we believe that real understanding between people begins around a table. Our trained hosts guide each conversation with care, drawing on history, literature, personal narrative, and the everyday questions that shape community life. Through carefully chosen prompts and reflective exercises, guests are invited to think deeply, listen closely, and speak honestly.

Over the course of the evening, participants explore how shared and differing life experiences shape the way we see our neighborhoods, our workplaces, and one another. Guests are encouraged to bring curiosity, ask questions they don't usually ask out loud, and leave with a wider sense of the people who live alongside them in South Florida.

Our approach moves beyond lecture or debate. Each dinner blends storytelling, reflection, and humanities-based discussion so that ideas land personally, not just intellectually. By creating a warm, respectful setting, we make room for the kind of candid exchange that builds trust between people who might otherwise never meet.

Awkward Dinners by SFPoC is an invitation to individuals, organizations, and community groups who want to slow down, listen, and learn from one another. Join us for an evening of food, story, and meaningful conversation — one dinner at a time.
